Stan Herd does art big in a way, landscaping in areas of an acre or more. His portrait of Kiowa Chief Satanta is 160 acres! From the roots up, Stan Herds earthworks craft compelling stories of art, passion and humanitarianism. Each project creates a ripple effect through the communities in which they exist as production of each earthwork requires dedicated manpower, which Herd is able to fulfill through employment of those in need.
One field in Egan, Minnesota was transformed into Van Gogh’s ‘Olive Trees’ which can be seen from Minneapolis Airport. Herd has been doing these types of artworks or ‘earthworks’ since 1981.
